Unique silver gelatin print
60.9 x 50.8 cm
$500
This project explores Hepner's personal experience of trichotillomania (a disorder characterised by compulsive hair pulling) draws parallels between the disorder and modern anxieties surrounding rapidly evolving emergent technologies, digital fatigue, and personal health in the digital age. These silver gelatin photographic prints are unique, one-off photograms Hepner created in the darkroom by moving, swaying, and dancing her hair across the paper while it was being exposed. What's created are hauntingly stark images of ghostly hair in motion, frozen in time on the images surface. The images are as much performance pieces as they are 2D representations her emotion and resolve.
