Silent Force is a self-portrait by Isabel Morales, based on her experience working inside heavy machinery on construction sites in Australia. The work explores the tension between control, vulnerability, and physical labour within the confined space of an industrial machine.
Drawn in coloured pencil across eight A4 sheets, the visible divisions form part of the structure of the work. The decision to work across multiple sheets, rather than on a single continuous surface, responds to the modularity of construction systems and the assembled nature of the industrial environment it depicts. The image presents a seated figure enclosed by metal, glass, and protective clothing: caught between authority and restriction, protection and confinement. Each contained gesture suggests the precision, care, and constant attention required to operate within the machine.

Artworks currently on exhibition can be collected from the gallery at 45 Flinders Lane, Melbourne VIC 3000 once the exhibition has concluded. Collection is available during gallery hours: Tuesday to Friday, 12–7pm, and Saturday, 12–4pm.
